C2 Tracker Archived — No Longer Updated

What Happened

The C2 Tracker project (github.com/montysecurity/C2-Tracker) has been archived by its maintainer. The README explicitly states that data files have been removed and C2 server signatures are no longer being updated.

Impact

C2 Tracker provided a regularly updated feed of known command-and-control server IPs and domains, useful for threat hunting and blocklist generation. With the project archived, this data source is no longer reliable for current threat intelligence.

Alternatives

For active C2 tracking feeds, consider:

• C2IntelFeeds (github.com/drb-ra/C2IntelFeeds) — still actively maintained with automatic updates
• ThreatFox by abuse.ch — community-driven IOC sharing platform
• Feodo Tracker by abuse.ch — focused on botnet C2 infrastructure

Our Assessment

Open-source threat intel feeds depend on maintainer commitment. When a sole maintainer moves on, the feed dies. We recommend diversifying across multiple feeds rather than relying on any single source.
